Blending Art + Science Events on March 30 at UNT

Two events that focus on blending science, art, engineering and design will be held at UNT campus: The Art + Science Evening Rendezvous and the Texas Humanities Art Technology and Science Network Meeting.

The TxHATS (Humanities, Art, Technology & Science http://texashats.org) is a network of networks geared toward providing opportunities for Texans working in interdisciplinary fields to collaborate and launch novel and innovative projects. The network is open to all interested individuals whether community, industry, professional, or academic. The TxHATS meeting will feature PechaKucha-style “pitches” from TxHATS attendees, technology demos, special-interest small working groups, and a panel/roundtable discussion on initiating and sustaining successful academic-industry-community partnerships at the intersection of art, science, humanities and technology.

The distinguished panel of experts for the roundtable includes Katherine Wagner, CEO of the Business Council for the Arts,  Jose M. Quintana, President & Chairman of the Board, and Joan Quintana, Managing Partner, AdventGX, Craig Orris Taylor, Senior Account Executive, Whitlock and Founding Partner Global Presence Alliance, and Thomas Derryberry, Assistant Dean, Corporate Relations, UNT College of Engineering. Their combined expertise spans arts organization management, government and corporate relations, economic development, tourism, entrepreneurship, video and collaboration systems, technology integration, and academic-corporate partnerships. An exciting art + science evening rendezvous featuring JD Talasek, Director of Cultural Programs at the National Academy of Sciences from Washington DC (http://bit.ly/1QQ6pWs). JD is an internationally recognized leader in the movement to bring together art, science, engineering and design. The evening will be a highly interactive and engaging forum exploring the collision of art and science! It also features exciting speakers from the DFW region: Janeil Engelstad, Founding Director of Make Art with Purpose, Ira Greenberg, Director of the Center for Creative Computation at SMU, and Marco Nardelli, computational physicist and composer from UNT.
